The celebratory event took place on Thursday, April 11, in the presence of Mrs. Luisa Gay — widow of the renowned musician and teacher after whom the award is named — who presented the Prize to the winner at the end of the concert. Mariotti performed an extensive and well-structured program featuring works by Debussy, Saint-Saëns, D’Ambrosio, and Grieg, accompanied on piano by Clarissa Carafa.

La Scala Honours Lucilla:

"It’s Such an Emotion to Play on That Stage"

Lucilla, what does this new achievement mean to you?

"I’m absolutely thrilled; playing on the stage of La Scala was an incredible emotion for me. And beyond the scholarship, which is certainly a great help, I was also pleased to receive positive feedback from the jury, which was composed of musicians of the highest caliber. This means that the work I’ve done so far has been heading in the right direction, and for this, I must thank all my teachers, especially Maestro Marco Fornaciari, who has been guiding me since I was eight years old."

Eastbourne Symphony Orchestra discovers a great talent

In the event, there is little I can add to the well-deserved applause which Lucilla Rose's superb account elicited. She was able to soar above the complex orchestral detail when it was demanded in the lengthy first movement, and her creamy tone in the second movement could become fiery as she reached the rhythmic excitement of the third.

Violinist Lucilla Rose Mariotti Opens

the "MCF" Concert Series in Lu

The young violinist delivers an interpretation free of sentimentalism, captivating the audience with her clear-sighted coherence in navigating the complex musical world of the Russian composer. What stands out is the generosity with which this young artist connects with the audience; moments of spontaneous poetry emerge in the second movement, where she displays perfect intonation and an intense vibrato in the lyrical passages.

Sixteen Years Old, Already at Carnegie Hall

A fantastic opportunity for young Lucilla Rose Mariotti: performing in the Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York. The result of intense and rigorous work during her early years of study, which has already led her to win several competitions. Plenty of Romanticism, but Bach is knocking at the door.

Lucilla Rose, the Italian violinist who has swayed the Czech Republic

The talent of a young Italian violinist has won over the people of Prague. "The Italian Embassy to the Czech Republic and the Italian Institute of Culture of Prague are pleased to announce that the 16-year-old Lucilla Rose Mariotti won the 59th international competition 'Kocian Violin Competition' (May 1 to 9) in Ústí nad Orlicí (Czech Republic) thanks to her P.I. Tchaikovsky Concerto for Violin in D Major op. 35 ". It is an important milestone for the young artist and for our country for the first time in the history of this musical competition - one of the most important for young violinists - the award went to an Italian musician.

Lucilla’s Triumph: At 16, She Wins the “Kocian Violin Competition”

“With the violin, I am able to speak to people, to share with them what I see and feel. I entrust my thoughts and emotions to the sheet music, to the music itself. Music moves me, and I hope it can move others as well. I believe that the role of art is to convey something that cannot be translated into words. For me, music fulfills this role magnificently.”
